QB Remote Step 2 – Connect to QB Remote
Important: Before attempting to connect, ensure that you know your work email and password, and that your Microsoft Authenticator app is working. We have the passwords we assigned, but you can reset your own anytime and it will sync with the local server. Go to https://passwordreset.microsoftonline.com/ to change.
- Double-click on the Remote Connection file you saved in Step 1. In my case, mine is on the Desktop and renamed.
- You may be presented at this point or after signing in with a certificate warning. If you are, just check the box “Don’t ask me again” then click Connect.
- When prompted to Enter your credentials, click on “More choices”.

- Click on Use a different account (if not already selected), and type in your work email and password.
- Note: You will have to authenticate by typing these in and approving with MFA every time you connect, due to using a cloud-based account for a local remote connection. It cannot be setup to use your laptop or Microsoft cloud authentication automatically.

- After you enter your credentials, the connection screen will say “Initializing”. You will get a prompt on your Authenticator app to Approve.

- After approval, QB will finish starting up. Congratulations! You’re in.
