First-Time Connection to a Company File

When you open QB for the first time, remote or local, you may get a window that says “QuickBooks Desktop Setup”. If so, following are the instructions on how to access your QB file.

Left click anywhere on the top bar of that window and drag it to the left until you see the “X” to close. Once you do, click on the “X”.
With the window closed, click on “Open or restore…”.
If not the default, select “Open a company file”, then click on “Next”.
Click on “This PC”, then scroll down if needed until you reach the Q:\ Drive. Open the Q: Drive.
Scroll down to the file you want. QB files to open will have the green icon.
1. Important!!! Before opening a file, please select “Open file in multi-user mode”.
